NSS VOLUNTEER VISIT REPORT – OLD AGE HOME OUTREACH

Venue: Old Age Home, Jalipool

Date and Time: 17th September 2025, 10:00 AM to 1:30 PM

Occasion: Celebration of Dr. Ram Das Pai’s Birthday

On the 90th birthday of Founding Pro Chancellor Padmashree Dr. Ramdas M. Pai, the NSS volunteers of Sikkim Manipal College of Physiotherapy (SMCPT) organized a heartfelt Community Service activity at the Old Age Home in Jalipool. The initiative aimed to foster community engagement, promote intergenerational bonding, and bring joy to the elderly residents.

The event was graced by the presence of esteemed faculty members: Prof. Dr. Nikita Joshi Sonowal (Principal, SMCPT), Dr. Prabin Pradhan (Assistant Professor), and Dr. Rahul Thakur (NSS Nodal Officer). Their support and participation added great value to the initiative.

The visit began with a cleanliness drive where volunteers actively participated in tidying up the premises, ensuring a hygienic and pleasant environment for the residents. Following this, the volunteers engaged in meaningful interactions with the elderly, listening to their stories and sharing moments of warmth and companionship.

To uplift the spirits of the residents, the volunteers organized a series of recreational activities including singing, games, and fun-filled group exercises. These activities were designed to encourage movement, laughter, and social interaction among the elderly, contributing positively to their mental and emotional well-being.

The event concluded with a small celebration in honor of Dr. Ramdas M. Pai, symbolizing the values of service, compassion, and respect for elders. The NSS volunteers expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to connect with the community and pledged to continue such initiatives in the future.
