BRIEF DESCRIPTION

In line with the organizational policy to foster a safe and respectful workplace environment, a Mandatory PoSH (Prevention of Sexual Harassment) Sensitization Session was held in the Conference Hall of Centre for Distance and Online Education, CDOE on 27th of January 2025, at 3:00 PM. The session aimed to educate and sensitize all employees about the prevention of sexual harassment in the workplace.

The event was attended by all teaching and non-teaching staff, along with other members of the organization. The session began with a warm welcome from the Assistant Director, CDOE who introduced and honoured the esteemed guests, Dr. Anindita Adhikary and Dr. Neeta Dhusia Sharma, by presenting them with a traditional Khada.

Session Highlights

  • • Introduction to PoSH Act by Dr. Neeta Dhusia Sharma: The first session was conducted by Dr. Neeta Dhusia Sharma, who provided a comprehensive introduction to the PoSH Act. She delved into its origins and importance in ensuring workplace safety. Through relatable day-to-day examples, she helped the audience connect with the subject matter and emphasized the significance of recognizing and addressing harassment in the workplace. Her interactive approach included raising thought-provoking questions that engaged the audience and encouraged active participation.
  • • Employer Obligations and Redressal Mechanism by Dr. Anindita Adhikary: The second session was led by Dr. Anindita Adhikary, who elaborated on the obligations of employers under the PoSH Act and the mechanisms available for addressing grievances. She explained the responsibilities of organizations in creating a safe workplace and ensuring a robust redressal process. To reinforce her points, she presented video clips illustrating real-life scenarios and shared real-world examples to shed light on the challenges and solutions.
  • • Interactive Q&A Session: Both sessions included question-and-answer rounds, where attendees were encouraged to ask questions and clarify their doubts. The open discussion created a platform for employees to voice their concerns and gain a deeper understanding of the subject.
  • The session concluded with a vote of thanks to the speakers and participants. The insightful presentations and interactive discussions left a lasting impact on the attendees. The event wrapped up with a high tea, providing an opportunity for informal discussions and networking.
