BRIEF DESCRIPTION/REPORT WITH GEO-TAGGED PHOTOGRAPH OR SCREEN SHOTS:

The Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE) celebrated the Foundation Day with great enthusiasm and grandeur on April 30, 2025, at the Conference Hall. This day holds profound importance as it commemorates the 127th Birth Anniversary of Dr. TMA Pai, a visionary, philanthropist, and recipient of the Padma Shri award. Dr. Pai’s pioneering efforts and relentless commitment to education laid the foundation of the Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), which today stands as one of India's leading universities. The event commenced at 10:00 AM and witnessed the gracious presence of several distinguished dignitaries.

Dignitaries Present:

  • Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Sikkim Manipal University (HVC, SMU) – Chief Guest
  • Dean, Sikkim Manipal Institute of Medical Sciences (SMIMS)
  • Director, Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology (SMIT)
  • Director, CDOE
  • Deputy Director, CDOE
  • Faculty members and staffs.
  • The event began with the rendition of the National Song, setting a patriotic tone for the celebration. The Masters of Ceremony, Dr. Rinzing Ongmu Sherpa and Mr. Arpan Gautam, warmly welcomed the gathering and guided the proceedings throughout the day.

A traditional lighting of the lamp and Khada ceremony marked the official inauguration of the event. This was followed by a cake-cutting ceremony, symbolizing the celebration of CDOE’s continued journey and success.

The Deputy Director of CDOE delivered a warm welcome address, acknowledging the presence of all guests and highlighting the purpose of the event. Following this, the Director of CDOE addressed the audience and spoke about the growing number of students enrolled in CDOE, emphasizing the center’s commitment to accessible and quality education.

A group song performed by faculty members added a cultural touch to the event. The Chief Guest, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of SMU, delivered a compelling and visionary speech, appreciating the foundational work of Dr. TMA Pai and the role of CDOE in furthering his mission.

After a short break, the program resumed with a poem recitation by a faculty member from the English department. This was followed by solo dance performances, showcasing the diverse talents of the faculty and staff.

A felicitation ceremony honoured faculty and staff members who completed one year of service at CDOE. They were recognized by the Director with tokens of appreciation for their dedication and contributions.

A brief presentation on CDOE's journey and milestones was shared, giving the audience a glimpse into the achievements and future aspirations of the institution.

The event concluded with a formal Vote of Thanks, followed by the National Anthem. A lunch was hosted for all attendees, providing an opportunity for interaction and camaraderie.
