Orientation Programme 2025 - SMCON

The Sikkim Manipal College of Nursing (SMCON) conducted an orientation programme for the newly admitted B.Sc. Nursing students (Batch 2025-2029) on 1st August 2025 at the Level 6 Auditorium of the SMIMS Building. This year, the college welcomed a fresh batch of students, including male candidates — a first in the history of nursing education in Sikkim.
The event was graced by esteemed dignitaries, including:
- Dr. G.K. Prabu, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Sikkim Manipal University
- Dr. Karma Sonam Sherpa, Registrar, SMU
- Dr. Sanjeeba Dutta, Officiating Dean, SMIMS

The programme commenced with the traditional lighting of the lamp, signifying the beginning of a new academic journey and the pursuit of knowledge. Following this, dignitaries addressed the gathering, extended a warm welcome, and shared words of encouragement with the students.
Important information was shared regarding college infrastructure, academic policies, and campus life. Sessions were held to inform students about:
- Institutional rules and regulations
- Hostel guidelines
- Health policies
- Anti-Ragging policies
- Functioning of various student committees
The orientation aimed to familiarize students and parents with the academic environment, support systems, and expectations at SMCON. The event concluded on a positive and interactive note, leaving the new students motivated and well-prepared to embark on their nursing journey with confidence and clarity.
