The Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, Sikkim Manipal University celebrated International Women’s Day on the 10th of March, 2023. Dr. Ktien Hima, Assistant Professor in the Department of Linguistics, Tetso College was the guest speaker for the day who delivered a lecture titled “Thinking Beyond Gender”. Dr. Bonita Pradhan, Department of Humanities and Social Sciences delivered a lecture titled “Understanding Feminism and Gender in Social Sciences”.
The students of the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences performed a short play titled “The Womaniser and the Feminist” which aimed towards imparting the message that women should be given the autonomy to make the own choices regardless of the constraints of gender and society. The celebration came to a successful completion with a vote of thanks delivered by Mrs. Srijana Sharma, Convener, Department of Humanities and Social Sciences.
