The 5th East Zone Nurse Researchers' Society for Innovation Conference (EZNRSICON) - 2025 was successfully held at the Sikkim Manipal University Auditorium on 21st and 22nd March 2025, organized by Sikkim Manipal College of Nursing. The conference, cantered around the theme of “Nursing and the Sustainable Development Goals: Research and Practice Priorities,” brought together nursing professionals, researchers, academicians, and scholars to deliberate on the integration of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into nursing practice and research.
Inaugural Ceremony:
The Inaugural function was held on the morning of 21st March 2025. Following this, the National Anthem was sung, marking the official start of the event. The Chief Guest, Shri. G.T. Dhungel, Minister of Health & FW Department and Culture Department, Government of Sikkim, graced the occasion. The special guests included Dr. Dilip Chandra Agarwal, Vice Chancellor of SMU, Prof. Muralidhar V. Pai, Dean of SMIMS, Dr. Assuma Beevi TM, President of NRSI, and Principal of SMCON, Prof. Champa Sharma, among others. The conference commenced with the Auspicious Lamp Lighting ceremony, a traditional ritual to invoke divine blessings for the success of the conference. The lamp was lit by the Chief Guest, Shri. G.T. Dhungel, along with other esteemed dignitaries, symbolizing the illumination of knowledge and the spirit of the conference.
Prof. M. Thoibi Devi, Organizing Chairperson, extended a warm welcome to the esteemed guests, delegates, and participants followed by offering of Khadas to the Dignitaries. Dr. Assuma Beevi TM, President, NRSI & Dean, Aster MIIMS Academy, Kerala, India delivered the keynote address by unfolding the theme of the conference. Dr. Barkha Devi, Associate Professor SMCON, and Organizing Secretary EZNRSICON-2025, provided an overview of the conference, highlighting its significance and objectives. Ms. Sonam Zangmu Sherpa, Editorial Board Secretary, officially announced the release of the 5th EZNRSICON 2025 Souvenir. The Master of Ceremony was Ms Shrijana Pradhan, Assistant Professor, SMCON. The ceremony concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Ms. Mingma Doma Bhutia, Tutor at SMCON.

The second day of the conference showcased 31 Oral Presentations and 15 Poster Presentations (competitive), alongside 6 non-competitive poster presentations. These presentations highlighted research and innovations conducted by nursing professionals from across India, assessed by eminent judges from reputed universities and organizations.
Participation and Networking:
EZNRSICON-2025 successfully brought together 184 nursing professionals, researchers, academicians, and scholars from 13 states and Union Territories of India, including Rajasthan, Delhi, Karnataka, Puducherry, Rishikesh, West Bengal, Kalimpong, Sikkim, Manipur, Assam, Nagaland, Jharkhand, Bihar, and the neighbouring country Nepal. The conference fostered networking, knowledge sharing, and collaborative efforts towards enhancing nursing education and practice for sustainable healthcare development
Valedictory Session:
The conference concluded with a valedictory session led by Ms. Sriya Pradhan and Mrs. Kritika Dulal, Tutors at SMCON. A cultural program, organized by Ms. Sujen Cintury, Assistant Professor at SMCON, added a vibrant touch to the closing of the event. The participants left the conference feeling enriched and motivated to contribute effectively to the field of nursing and global health initiatives.
Accreditation:
The Sikkim Nursing Council granted 2 credit points to participants and 2 credit points for the resource faculty, presenters, chairpersons, and moderators.
In conclusion, EZNRSICON-2025 provided an important platform for nursing professionals to engage with contemporary research, share knowledge, and discuss strategies to address global health challenges through the lens of the Sustainable Development Goals.
