1. Introduction

The National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit of Sikkim Manipal College of Physiotherapy proudly organized a significant event on June 5th, 2025, to commemorate World Environment Day. Aligning with the global theme and the spirit of environmental stewardship, the event focused on tangible actions to enhance the college campus ecosystem and foster environmental awareness among students and faculty.

2. Objectives

  • To actively contribute to environmental conservation through practical initiatives.
  • To raise awareness about the importance of biodiversity and ecosystem health.
  • To promote a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable campus environment.
  • To encourage a sense of responsibility and ownership for the local environment among the college community.

3. Activities Undertaken

  • Tree Plantation Drive: NSS volunteers enthusiastically participated in planting a variety of saplings across designated areas within the college campus. This initiative aimed to increase green cover, support local biodiversity, and contribute to long-term carbon sequestration.
  • Campus Cleanliness Drive: A comprehensive cleaning campaign was undertaken across the college grounds. Volunteers diligently collected litter, cleared debris from pathways and green spaces, and ensured proper waste segregation. Special attention was paid to areas prone to neglect.
