The Department of Computer Applications at Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology (SMIT), Majhitar, Sikkim organized the second International Conference on Computing and Machine Learning (CML 2025) from March 22 to 23, 2025. The conference was technically sponsored by the Soft Computing Research Society, India. CML 2025 served as an excellent platform for researchers, academicians, and industry professionals to exchange knowledge and insights in the field of machine learning.

The conference received 909 scholarly submissions from 15 countries, with 144 papers accepted, maintaining a 17% acceptance rate. A panel of 772 reviewers evaluated the submissions. Registered and presented papers will be published in Springer Nature's Lecture Notes in Networks and Systems (LNNS). This edition featured keynote speakers from leading industries, including Microsoft, Arius Health, JPMorgan, and Meta.

The inaugural function commenced with the national song, followed by a welcome address by Prof. (Dr.) Samarjeet Borah, HoD, Computer Applications. He greeted the attendees and provided an overview of the conference. The session was honored by the presence of Prof. (Dr.) M.C. Govil, Director of NIT Sikkim, who delivered an insightful speech on Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. Prof. (Dr.) Jagadish Chand Bansal from South Asian University, Delhi, introduced the Soft Computing Research Society and its contributions. Mr. Aninda Bose discussed key challenges in scientific publishing, emphasizing ethical considerations. Lastly, Prof. (Dr.) G.L. Sharma, Director of SMIT, highlighted the significance of AI and Machine Learning in multidisciplinary research.
