8. Profile of Director
Professor (Dr.) Savitha G. Kini, Director of Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology (SMIT) and Professor in Electrical & Electronics Engineering, took charge on September 22, 2025. With a Ph.D. from Jadavpur University and over three decades of experience, she has made significant contributions to academics, research, and administration. As HoD (2014–2019), she led the department through NBA accreditation, established advanced laboratories, and strengthened academia–industry collaborations through projects with Selco Foundation. She has authored over 30 research papers in reputed journals, presented at numerous conferences, and guided multiple Ph.D. scholars, contributing extensively to the field of lighting and electrical engineering.
