BRIEF DESCRIPTION

Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology hosted its flagship annual socio-cultural fest, KAALRAV 2025, from March 21st to 23rd, with the theme "Around the World." The fest brought together 600+ participants and witnessed a footfall of over 5,500, celebrating culture, creativity, and talent through music, dance, drama, gaming, and the arts.

With electrifying competitions, mesmerizing performances, and immersive experiences, KAALRAV 2025 showcased diverse traditions and global artistry. The Pronite performances, battle of bands, solo singing, and dance competitions kept the audience enthralled, while e-sports and creative arts added to the fest's dynamism.

The event's success was made possible by Sikkim Cab, Coca-Cola, Krafton India Esports Campus Tour, Fastest Fast Sikkim, and The Telegraph, whose support elevated the fest's grandeur. With an unforgettable fusion of talent and enthusiasm, KAALRAV 2025 left an indelible mark, solidifying its place as one of the most vibrant cultural fests in the region.

DAY 0

KAALRAV 2025 commenced with a grand inauguration ceremony, marking the beginning of three days of cultural extravagance. The evening began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, graced by Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor Air Vice Marshal Dr. Dilip Chandra Agarwal, SMIT Director Commander Dr. G.L. Sharma, and other distinguished dignitaries. The Chief Guest, Dr. Agarwal, officially declared the fest open, setting the stage for an unforgettable journey. A mesmerizing classical welcome dance followed, leading to addresses by Prof. (Dr.) Pankaj Chettri, the Associate Director (Student Affairs), the Director, and the Vice-Chancellor, all emphasizing the festival's role in fostering creativity and unity among students. The Student Council's President and General Secretary then unveiled the KAALRAV Highlights, offering an exciting preview of the events ahead.
The evening's cultural showcase began with the vibrant Sikkim-State Dance, a mesmerizing performance that beautifully represented the rich heritage of the region, incorporating elements of Lepcha, Bhutia, and Nepali folk traditions. This was followed by a soulful traditional song that resonated deeply with the audience, setting the stage for a series of traditional dance performances that highlighted India's diverse artistic expressions. The unveiling of the much-anticipated KAALRAV 2025 promotional video further amplified the excitement, offering a glimpse into the exhilarating events that lay ahead. The cultural fervour continued with a spellbinding classical song performance, followed by a breathtaking choir act by Chromatix, whose harmonious melodies filled the auditorium with energy and emotion. As the formal segment of the evening drew to a close, the Cultural Secretaries took the stage to deliver a heartfelt Vote of Thanks, acknowledging the hard work and dedication of everyone who contributed to making the event a success.
With the official proceedings concluded, the night transitioned into a vibrant celebration of talent and creativity. The children of the institute's staff charmed the audience with their delightful performances, followed by an impressive lineup of student and faculty acts, each bringing their unique artistic touch to the stage. The energy skyrocketed with a thrilling rap and beatboxing performance by 5 Elements, whose electrifying rhythms had the crowd on their feet. As the night progressed, the stage was set ablaze by a high-octane fusion dance performance by the Dance Club, seamlessly blending contemporary, classical, and freestyle elements into a visually stunning spectacle. The evening concluded on a euphoric note, leaving the audience enthralled and setting the perfect tone for the exhilarating days of KAALRAV 2025 ahead.

DAY 1

The first full day of KAALRAV 2025 was a dynamic celebration of talent, creativity, and competitive spirit, with a series of enthralling events spread across multiple venues. The day kicked off with the Solo Singing competition, where participants captivated the audience with their melodious renditions in both Western and Eastern categories. Simultaneously, the Group Dance (Eastern) competition mesmerized spectators with vibrant performances rich in tradition and culture. The energy continued to build with intense Rapping and Beatboxing competitions at the Amphitheatre, where participants showcased their lyrical prowess and rhythmic skills, leaving the crowd in awe. Meanwhile, the much-anticipated Mr. & Ms. KAALRAV contest on the Main Stage saw students competing in a battle of personality, confidence, and charisma.
The excitement extended beyond the stage, with a variety of off-stage events engaging participants throughout the day. The Treasure Hunt tested the problem-solving skills and teamwork of participants as they navigated through hidden clues across campus. The Reel Making and Photography competitions provided a platform for aspiring content creators and photographers to capture the essence of KAALRAV in innovative ways. The World Quiz challenged participants' intellect and knowledge, while the Escape Room event offered a thrilling experience of solving puzzles under pressure. The Face Painting competition saw students transform faces into stunning artistic masterpieces. Meanwhile, the E-Games tournament, organized in collaboration with Krafton India Esports, attracted gaming enthusiasts who battled it out in BGMI and Mobile Legends. The day also featured Trifecta, a unique blend of mind and physical challenges.
As the sun set, the much-awaited Prize Distribution Ceremony took place, where Commander Prof. (Dr.) G.L. Sharma, Prof. (Dr.) Pankaj Chettri along with esteemed faculty members, honored the winners of the day's events, recognizing their talent and dedication. The grand finale of the day was the electrifying Pronite, which turned the campus into a musical paradise. The evening began with a soulful performance by Surakshaa & The Himalayan Breeze from Darjeeling, setting a serene yet energetic atmosphere. As the night progressed, Alo the Band took the stage, delivering a powerful indie music set that had the crowd dancing and singing along. The combination of extraordinary talent, high-energy performances, and enthusiastic participation made Day 1 of KAALRAV 2025 an unforgettable experience, setting the perfect momentum for the days ahead.

DAY 2

The final day of KAALRAV 2025 was a thrilling culmination of talent, creativity, and celebration. The day began with the much-anticipated Battle of Bands on the Main Stage, where rock bands from various institutions delivered electrifying performances, engaging in a fierce musical showdown that left the audience in awe. Meanwhile, the Amphitheatre hosted an array of spectacular dance performances, beginning with the Duet Dance competition, where pairs mesmerized the crowd with their synchronization and chemistry. This was followed by the Solo Dance (Eastern) and Solo Dance (Western) competitions, where individual performers showcased their talent through captivating expressions and powerful choreography.
Beyond the stage, several engaging competitions unfolded across the campus. The Flash Drama Challenge brought theatrical brilliance to life with gripping performances, while Verbaton in the Seminar Hall saw participants passionately expressing their thoughts and creativity through dramatic monologues. The Social Media Marketing Challenge tested students' ability to craft compelling campaigns, while the ongoing Reel Making and Photography competitions captured the spirit of KAALRAV 2025 through visual storytelling. The campus buzzed with excitement as Cluedo: Mystic Masquerade had participants deciphering clues in a thrilling mystery-solving experience. The Rangoli Competition added a splash of color and artistic finesse to the fest, with intricate and vibrant designs. Meanwhile, the Arm-Wrestling Championship drew a roaring crowd as competitors showcased sheer strength and determination in intense matchups.
The E-Games tournament, organized by Edge Gaming, saw fierce battles in Mobile Legends and BGMI, with participants competing for the championship title. Simultaneously, instrumentalists took center stage in the Instrumental Competition, where musicians displayed their prowess, captivating the audience with soulful and electrifying performances.
As the sun set, the Valedictory & Prize Distribution Ceremony took place, marking the formal conclusion of KAALRAV 2025. Vice-Chancellor Dr. Dilip Chandra Agarwal, Prof. (Dr.) Pankaj Chettri along with other esteemed dignitaries, honored the winners of the various competitions, celebrating their dedication and talent. The ceremony served as an inspiring moment, recognizing the hard work of all participants and organizers who made the fest a grand success. Prof. (Dr.) Pankaj Chettri, the Associate Director (Student Affairs) proposed the vote of thanks for Kaalrav 2025.
The grand finale of KAALRAV 2025 unfolded with an unforgettable Pronite. Anurag Haldar set the stage on fire with his soul-stirring performance, enchanting the audience with his melodious voice. As the night deepened, the much-awaited Varun Jain took over, delivering an electrifying performance that had the crowd swaying, singing, and dancing along. With an atmosphere filled with energy, music, and euphoria, KAALRAV 2025 ended on the perfect note, leaving behind memories that would be cherished for years to com
